1. The publication of papers in the Revista de Direito Civil (RDC) is subject to the prior favourable opinion of the Revision Commission for verification of compliance with the corresponding Publishing Criteria.
2. The Revision Commision is assisted by scientific referees who assess, under conditions of anonymity, the papers sent to them for that purpose (peer review). This process will not be applied to short texts on new laws and legal literature - with a maximum extension of 2,000 words - to annotations to case law and recensions.
3. Papers to be published in the RDC must:
(i) Meet the criteria of high scientific quality, including rigour, clarity and scientific grounds, set out in the Editorial Rules;
(ii) Be unpublished;
(iii) Comply with the limit of 90,000 characters (about 30 pages), including spaces and footnotes;
(iv) Include the names of the authors in the body of the text in normal characters and those mentioned in footnotes in small caps;
(v) Include the titles of monographs, collective works and journals in italic and those included in journals and collective works in inverted commas, in normal characters.
(vi) Include abstracts in Portuguese and English, with 500 characters each.
4. The texts to be included in the "Brief Comments" section, including brief notes on jurisprudence and recensions should meet the criteria defined for articles, except for the character limit, which is 25,000 characters, and the length of the abstracts, of 150 characters each.
5. Texts must be submitted in final version. There are only a few proofs before publication, in which typos can be corrected, but not the introduction of new text.
6. Authors, scientific referees and members of the Revision Commission of the Revista de Direito Civil are subject to the corresponding Code of Ethics.
The Revista de Direito Civil (RDC) is open to the submission of articles, recensions, annotations to case law, as well as short texts on new laws and legal literature.
The papers are evaluated by the Revision Commission in accordance with the Publication Criteria disclosed in the website.
The RDC is subject to a double-blind peer review process, which guarantees authors and scientific referees anonymity. The process will not be applied to short texts on new laws and legal literature - with a maximum extension of 2,000 words - to annotations to case law and recensions.
The conduct of the authors, scientific referees and members of the Revision Commission of the RDC is regulated by the corresponding Code of Ethics, in accordance with the core principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
The texts must be sent to the email address rdc.submissoes@cidp.pt with the subject "Submission of text to the RDC".
Review and publication of submitted papers
- The papers deemed eligible for double blind peer review should be sent to the following email address:rdc.submissoes@cidp.pt, with the subject "Submission of Paper for the RDC"
- All contact between the Author and the RDC should be exclusively held through the aforementioned email address.
- The submitted papers are assessed by the Revision Commission in accordance with the Publication Criteria disclosed on the website in order to assess their formal and substantive adequacy.
- The Author is informed of the content of the preliminary decision by the Revision Commission, within 10 days from submission. Even if the preliminary decision is positive, it is not binding upon the Commission or the RDC.
- Following the preliminary assessment, the paper is sent, depending on its subject, to two qualified scientific referees, with the utmost respect for the anonymity of the Author.
- The scientific referees should return the Assessment Form within 45 days of the paper's distribution.
- The Author is informed, by the Revision Commission, of the content of the decision:(i)recommended for publication with no reservations; (ii) recommended for publication with reservations; or (iii) not recommended for publication.
- In case the paper isrecommended for publication with reservations,the Author has 30 days to amend the paper accordingly.
- The Revision Commission assesses whether the assessments suffice.
- In case the paper isrecommended without reservations, the Author will have 10 days to proof-read and send a final draft.
